A Brief Introduction
Feminism has recently become a very popular topic. With celebrities promoting the topics and with such buzz around the overall topic, one could really say that feminism is at it's peak of both interest and popularity. Campaigns and Organizations such as "He for She" or "Because I'm a Girl" are both great examples of one of the many foundations that have taken the initiative to stand up and advocate for Women's Rights. But although feminism is an important and popular topic, many people only see the "popular" part. Many companies have been creating so-called "feminist campaigns" to promote their companies and to have more people buy their products because they think that this company is doing a good cause. However, not many companies actually promote true feminism. So you might ask, what actually is feminism? Well. feminism as defined by Merriam-Webster Dictionary is "the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities" and "organized activity in support of women's rights and interests". So therefore, frowning down upon men is not feminism, saying that women are better than men is not feminism. All of those can be described as a mere opinion. This is the part where many people get mixed up and that eventually results in arguments and complaints.
